Manly Mondays! Vintage Roadside T-Shirts

    Like many vintage and antique collector's, my husband and I have a fondness for roadside attractions, unusual architecture and old amusement parks. That's why, when I was at the Portland Antique Expo earlier this month, I was drawn into the Vintage Roadside booth that was set up at the show.
Vintage Roadside is a Portland based company, whose screen printed t-shirts feature graphics from old mom and pop businesses from the 1930's-1960's.
    The mom and pop businesses that are featured on the t-shirts are: amusement parks, motor inns, bowling alleys, roller-rinks, drive-in restaurants and drive-in theaters. With each of their t-shirt designs they give a brief history of the business that the t-shirt features as well as images from the businesses.
    Their website also offers general histories of roadside attractions; diners and drive ins; motor courts and motels; skating rinks and bowling alleys.
    The t-shirts that they sell are available in a wide range of sizes for men and women and cost $20-, with a portion of each sale going to the National Trust for Historic Preservation. When you purchase a t-shirt through the Vintage Roadside website you can also opt to receive a free one year membership to the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

    William Powell is one of my favorite leading men from the Golden Era of Hollywood.
    In his movies My Man Godfrey and The Thin Man series his characters were witty, debonair and funny.
    A major part of what gave Powell his debonair look was his mustache.
    If you look at the photograph pictured above of Powell without his mustache he doesn't appear so debonair as he does with his mustache.
    It always such an odd thing to see a man that you are used to seeing with a mustache without one.
    Their faces all of the sudden look so naked and alien compared to what you are used to.
